Update Autumn 2017

Back by popular demand, well, almost….
It’s been quite a while since our last Newsletter and feedback from our customers and distributors is they’d like to see this regularly again. As it’s more a technically focused than a ‘Newsletter’ we are re-naming it ‘Update’. Our intention is to publish these as regularly as possible with the objective of keeping our customers, distributors, partners and staff up-to-date with our industry leading ThermoFlexX developments.

There’s been a tremendous amount of positive change for ThermoFlexX. Significantly, the full model range (TFxX20 through to 80) is now designed and built to our latest state-of-the-art, electronics, optics, software and mechanical standards. This substantial redevelopment began with the ThermoFlexX 80 and has rippled downwards through the engine format sizes. We’ll provide a more comprehensive overview of the range later in this Update.

Another change that impacts ThermoFlexX positively is that we are now part of the Flint Group. Although our digital press team in Lier are undoubtedly the major part of the new Flint Digital Division, there’s such an obvious synergy between us, the Ieper based Xeikon Pre-press team and Flint’s Image Transfer Solutions division in Stuttgart. Predictably a close working relationship has grown rapidly with ThermoFlexX customers now enjoying increased development, service, benchmarking and application support as a consequence.

It’s very important to note that our philosophy and direction is to make ThermoFlexX the very best OPEN imager available on the market. Continuing to work with all plate suppliers to provide our customers and distributors with the exact solutions they require is an extremely important part of our business.

The New ThermoFlexX Range

Based heavily on customer feedback and made possible by the amazing skills, experience and innovation of our development team based in Ieper, here are just some of the unique features that make ThermoFlexX systems the most technologically advanced imagers available today.

An Overview of the Range

Both our TFxX80 and TFxX60, 2032×1270 and 1524x1067mm plate formats respectively, feature our unique FlexTray. This can be detached and used to safely collect a plate and take it through pre-exposures and after imaging exposures and wash-out etc. Once attached it becomes an integral part of the system, allowing fully automatic loading and unloading of plates.

The TFxX80 and TFxX60 are both available with 2 separate lasers and imaging heads, facilitating rapid productivity (up to 12m2/h) and consequent throughput. Not to mention obvious redundancy benefits in having duplicate lasers and optics.

The TFxX48, 1200x900mm plate format, has a fixed FlexTray but is equally useful for easy and safe plate handling with automatic loading and unloading.

Our totally new TFxX30 and TFxX20, 635×762 and 635x508mm, now share the latest optical design technology with the bigger systems. Foot-operated clamps assist easy plate loading. These simple small-footprint systems require only a single-phase electrical supply (‘plug-in’) with other services; cleaning air, drum vacuum and dust extraction with active carbon filter all built in. These quiet systems can easily be integrated into any working environment.

All systems continue to utilise the extremely valuable vacuum slider, this now being automatic on FlexTray systems. All TFxX systems can support all industry resolutions to 5080dpi, these can easily be mixed on one plate. TFxX20TFxX30 and TFxX48 systems can by supplied with a hybrid (vacuum for foil backed and magnets for steel-back plates) drum.

Fully Automatic Loading and Unloading and Imaging.
Sophisticated sensors are now available on systems with a FlexTray to facilitate safe fully automatic loading and unloading. If a person goes within the ‘safe-zone’ then the sequence is stopped and will be continued after an operator has resumed with a button press.

This means that all the operator has to do is remove the plate coversheet and initialise the loading sequence. The plate is then loaded, imaged and unloaded with no further intervention required.
